You may have loved your website in 1995, but we both know that it’s time for a change. If you’ve noticed a decrease in online sales it’s probably because your website is putting people to sleep! Here are 5 signs that your website is a snoozefest from Wolfe Interactive, your favorite Temecula web design company!
Too Much Text
If your website is covered in text with hardly any graphics or photos, people will run in the opposite direction…or fall asleep. It’s great to have text that explains your business, but your site must also have images to balance out the content. The average web surfer will only spend 30 seconds max on your site if they don’t find it interesting.
Bad Images
Are your graphics or images from the same decade as Beanie Babies? Time for an upgrade. There are photographers EVERYWHERE so not being able to get updated pictures shouldn’t be an issue. If your graphics are outdated, find a designer for that too! Put in the effort necessary to keep your pictures updated and interesting.
“What-The” Color Scheme
If you have more than 3 or 4 colors in your website design that are not complimentary in any way, you need help. On the other end of the spectrum, (pun intended), if your site is black and white and nothing more you also need help. We say this in the nicest way possible. Color mistakes happen more often than not, so check your site and count your colors!
Get Real
Sometimes it’s okay and necessary to have formally written text, depending on your business. BEWARE. This can make people sleepy! In today’s world of social media everything, a personal touch is refreshing and interesting. If you think there’s no appropriate place to get real on your site, try doing it on your about page. People will expect biographies and photos of your team, so personable things will be a great addition to it.
Keep Content Fresh
We covered this a little bit above, but make sure that ALL your website content is constantly being updated. People aren’t stupid. If you haven’t updated your blog for over a year, they’ll assume your website has been just as neglected. Time to reorganize your priorities and wake people up with the latest information.
