In my business, I have found that many of my clients are frustrated with the web hosting aspect of their website.  It can be very confusing, no doubt.  There are so many choices now – how do you know what service to use?  Here’s the scoop.  In order to launch your website, you need to register a domain name (www.yourcompany.com).  It will cost you about 15.00 a year. You can register your name with one company and host your site at another. That’s no problem.  Your email gets set up on the web hosting side in most cases.  I would stick with a company that has live telephone support.  If you can’t call – run!  If your site is down or you have a problem with your email, you will need immediate support which you will not get with a ticket system.  You should be paying about between 10 and 15 dollars a month for hosting depending on how much disk space you need (the size of the files that make up your website) and how much bandwidth you need (the amount  of data that is transferred between your web hosting account and your site visitors computer). If you’re running a WordPress site (most of my customers are), make sure that your web hosting company allows you to install WordPress in the root directory (that’s my preference).
